'31' - THE SERIES
For a while now, I have been itching to write something "womencentric" but I have talked myself out of it so much so that I have lost count. I know some of you would agree with that part of me that thinks enough has been said for women, to women, at women and by women (but honestly, can it be too much?).
After a long time of serenades, dinner dates and cute poems, I have finally decided to let this romance bloom so here we are; this is '31- THE SERIES' (yes, 31 inspired by Proverbs 31).
This is going to be a journey with 31 women of the bible, some characters we are familiar with, some not so much. This series isn't going to be our typical book of bible stories, we would look at these famous and not so famous characters as contemporary women so we can relate with the reality they had, tap from their strengths, learn from their weaknesses and connect to them in ways we didn't know we could.
Below is the list of women whose stories I will share with you as this romance unravels and climaxes:
- Abigail - she who went from being married to a 'fool' to marrying a king
- Abishag - the one who was 'given' to a king to soothe his loneliness
- Bathsheba - the one that was just enjoying a cool bath (minding her business)
- Deborah - the only female judge mentioned in the Bible (Times 100.....)
- Delilah - (I know what you are thinking) loved by Samson
- Esther - she who charmed royalty
- Eve - (some of us haven't buried the hatchet yet but we move) the first woman
- Hagar - the loyal maid who became a side chick
- Hannah - the one they called barren
- Jael - the amazon
- Keturah - the one who came after Sarah
- Leah - the unloved
- Lydia of Thyatira - the first documented convert to Christianity
- Mary - the one who birthed the messiah
- Michal - the one who loved David
- Miriam - her brother's keeper
- Naomi - she who lost all
- Orpah - the one who couldn't go any further
- Peninah - the nemesis
- Priscillia - the teacher
- Phoebe - the messenger
- Rachel - the beloved
- Rahab - the controversial one
- Rebekah - mother of two sons
- Ruth - the loyal one
- Sarah - the one who laughed
- Tamar - the one they killed for
- Tamar - she who became desperate
- Vashti - the trophy wife

- ....................................
One 'woman' at a time, one story at a time we will indulge in this journey together.
